Awards and Judging

 

 

Awards:

Awards will be given in each division on the following scale:  Platinum 290-300, Gold 281-289, Silver, 265-280, Bronze 264 and lower.  Overall awards will also be given for “High Score,” “Best Choreography,” “Best Costumes,” “Best Technical Merit,” and “Best Showmanship.”  The Studio with the High Score of the day will receive a traveling trophy, will be given a $150 scholarship for registration for next year and will perform an opening number to begin Idaho Dance Fest 2009.  Each dancer will also receive an Idaho Dance Fest gift for participation in the competition. 

 

Judging Scale and Criteria:

Dancers will be judged by a set of three judges.  The criterion for judging consists of technical ability, performance and interpretation, choreography and musicality and overall appearance.   Technical ability is 50% of the overall score, while performance and interpretation is 20%, choreography and musicality is 20% and overall appearance is 10%.  Each studio will receive critique comments from the judges that will be sent to the studio the week after the competition in audio format.  There will also be score sheets for each performance available directly after the closure of the awards ceremony.
