Rules and Regulations
Registration:
-
All late registrations include a 10 percent late fee.
-
Registration must be submitted online or postmarked no later than February
8th to be considered not late.

Late registrations will be accepted until March 4, 2008.
-
A $15 discount will be given to all studios that reserve their place in the competition
by January 20, 2008.
-
A $20 discount will be given to all studios that register by January 31, 2008.
-
All registration fees are non-refundable.
No exceptions.
Competition
Rules:
-
There is no limit to the number of entries per studio.
In solos/duos/trios, dancers are able to enter as many categories as they
want as long as each performance can be placed in a different category.

All routines should be appropriate for family viewing.
Idaho Dance Fest reserves the right to stop or disqualify inappropriate routines.

Teachers are not allowed to compete.
-
No tap sounds on recordings.
-
No use of dangerous props such as fire, glass, etc.
-
General props are permitted.
-
No coaching from the audience.
-
Competing dancers must perform in the scheduled order, unless permission is given
otherwise.

Performance time limits are as follows:
Solos/Duets/Trios are limited to three minutes.
Small groups (4-10 dancers) are limited to four minutes.
Large groups are limited to five minutes (10 or more dancers).
Production numbers must not exceed 10 minutes.
There will be a 1-point per judge deduction for every fifteen seconds over
time.

Honest information concerning categorization by age, level and size of group is
a must.

Dancers should act in an appropriate manner at all times.
This includes conduct in dressing rooms, backstage, on stage and in the audience.

Idaho Dance Fest has the right to adjust the date or times or competition as necessary.
Categories:
Age

Mini: 2-4.99
·
Junior: 5-9.99
·
Pre-teen: 10-12.99
·
Teen: 13-14.99
·
Senior: 15-16.99
·
Premier: 17 and up
* To figure out the age category for a group of dancers, take the average age of
the combined group. Age is determined
by actual age as of the date of the competition.
Size of Group
·
Solo: 1 dancer
·
Duo: 2 dancers
·
Trio: 3 dancers
·
X-Small Group: 4-9 Dancers
·
Small Group: 10-15 dancers
·
Medium Group: 16-24 dancers
·
Large Group: 25-40 dancers
·
X-Large Group: 40 dancers or more
Level
·
Novice: First year of competition participation.
·
Beginner: Beginning dance levels (all 9.99 aged dancers with two or less hours of
studio time weekly)
·
Intermediate: Four or less hours of studio time weekly, average ability
·
Advanced: Over four hours of studio time weekly, above average ability, competition
experience and polished technique.
Style of Dance

We may split competing groups base on style, at our
discretion. The following are possible styles:
Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Acrobatic Dance, Ballet, Pointe, Pointe Modern or
Jazz, Tap, Tap Modern, Character Dance, Hip Hop, Clogging, Irish Step Dance, Novelty,
Musical Theatre, Dance/Drill Team, Song and Dance, Production, Pom-Pom, Cheerleading,
and Open.
